Student Spotlight: Undergraduate Student, Marion Riley

I am a senior double majoring in Religious Studies and Linguistics, as well as completing certificates in Medieval & Renaissance Studies and Arabic. Ironically, for someone who spent so long trying to get out of Sunday School growing up, my program of study has led me to develop a deep appreciation for the role of religion in the human experience, and my multi-religious household fostered in me a fascination with the diversity of religions worldwide. I am especially interested in medieval Andalusian religious manuscripts, and hope to continue studying the preservation of these beautiful artifacts in the future. I spent the spring 2022 semester in Aix-en-Provence, France, where I enjoyed making visits to historic religious sites across the south of France, Spain, and Morocco. I’m currently working on my capstone research project, which looks into the Museum of the Bible’s collection of ancient scriptural fragments and manuscripts, and hope to extend this into a BPhil thesis.
